SharePoint Server Core and Add-on components for Duet Enterprise Integration

I would like to continue on the topic of Duet Enterprise for SharePoint 2010 and SAP and list out all the core and add-on components required on the SharePoint Server 2010 side to enable this integration.


Please keep in mind that the Duet Integration will only work if you are using SharePoint Server 2010 Enterprise Edition license - the most costliest of all licenses BTW :-)


SharePoint 2010 Core Components required:

1. SharePoint Workflow Engine
2. Enterprise Content Manager
3. SharePoint Security Token Service for authentication purposes
4. Business Connectivity Services.

Duet Enterprise SharePoint Add-on components:

These components are available as part of the Duet Enterprise SharePoint Product

1. Duet Enterprise Site Templates
2. Duet Enterprise Workflow feature
3. Duet Enterprise Reporting feature
4. BCS Solution Design feature
5. Duet Enterprise Collaboration feature
6. Monitoring and Supportability components
7. Duet Enterprise Role and Profile Sync.

Duet Enterprise for SharePoint 2010 and SAP - Introduction.

This will be first of many posts where I will be talking about my understanding of the new product that is being developed by Microsoft along with SAP Research and Development division.  The product is called Duet Enterprise for SharePoint 2010 and SAP.


The reason behind evaluating this product was due to a specific requirement that came up when a client asked our team for integrating their new SharePoint 2010 portal that we were going to develop with their SAP ERP system. I did the initial analysis and started looking for information about third party tools that were written to enable this integration using the Business Connectivity Services (BCS) of SharePoint 2010.  That is when I stumbled across this new product called Duet Enterprise for SP 2010 and SAP.  


This product has been under development for a a while now and they are going to release it for the community on February 1st 2011 - more information can be found at http://www.duetenterprisesummit.com 


I will be writing more about the technology behind this product and how it enables seamless integration between the SharePoint 2010 Enterprise Edition product and the SAP Product.
